Cargo Covers
Also known as Security Shade
Overview
Cargo Covers are designed to protect the cargo area of your vehicle from prying eyes. They are available as in lid style, which hangs down over the cargo area and is pulled up when you open the trunk lid or tailgate, or as a retractable shade much like a window blind.
Installation
Most cargo shades are simple to install. One side slips into a clip or a mount already in the vehicle. The other side has a compressed end that is pushed in. to shorten the rod and then mounts to another clip mount on the other side of the vehicle. Release the compressed end to lock into place. On occasion they do require drilling into the vehicle interior according to pre-designated locations or using a drilling template.
Care and Maintenance
Depending on the material of your cover, retractable ones are usually a vinyl and the lid style are usually a hard plastic. Mild soap and water will be sufficient. For softer materials that are textured or plastic you may want to use a small vacuum. Avoid harsh solvents and cleansers.
Pros
Cargo Covers prevent items from bouncing around too much or up and out of the cargo hold during quick stops. They deter people from breaking into your vehicle for the purpose of stealing your recently purchased items or any valuables you may carry in your car.
Cons
Cargo Covers will not cause you any problems if installed properly and used with care
